The comprehensive refurbishment and extension of the building to create 75,000 sq.ft of prime Category A office space, complete with the formation of a new rooftop pavilion and terrace overlooking Newgate Street.

The building underwent a full refurbishment, designed to be low-carbon and energy efficient from the outset. Sustainability was at the forefront of the new design with the scheme rated as BREEAM “Excellent” and demonstrating the signifying benefit of retrofit over a new build, having achieved an estimated embodied carbon saving of ~5800 tC02e in the structure alone.

The Newgate has been designed with a specification expected from today’s occupiers, including best-in-class end of journey facilities featuring a dedicated cycle ramp from street level down to the 168 space bike store and changing facilities. The newly refurbished building also features ‘urban greening’ to encourage biodiversity and aims to offset the environmental impact of the development.
